Colfibrex, the company that produced the first generation of the system (then called the "Green-House System"), operated from 2009 to 2013. In that time it produced a number of projects, in Colombia, Ecuador, and the U.S. The first and only building in the U.S. back then was the recycle center in Athens, Tennessee, built with federal funds and an example of sustainability, totally off-grid using alternative energy sources.. Other buildings include a water bottling plant in Colombia that used potato sacks as reinforcement for the earth covering,a hotel in Puyo, Ecuador, called the "Bellandia Lodge" which is still functioning, and a number of homes in different areas. As most first generation products, the original system had many issues that needed re-thinking.
We are proud to say that while COLFIBREX has pioneered the initial design and provided some great natural solutions, BIOTEKT has elevated the vegetation surrounded habitat to high end levels of Structural and Living Comfort.
